Jonathan’s Dream was originally built in 1996 in memory of Jonathan Peter Barzach, an old soul with wise eyes and a happy smile who died before his first birthday. Inspired by Jonathan and a little girl in a wheelchair who couldn’t play on typical playgrounds, Jonathan’s family wanted to create a place where children of all abilities could ‘celebrate life’ together. Thanks to the generous support of hundreds of donors and volunteers, the original Jonathan’s Dream came true in 1996. It was rebuilt as Jonathan’s Dream Reimagined in 2017. Jonathan would have been 26 in 2021.
