    ABOUT THE READER:
A lifelong resident of Connecticut, except for eight years in northern California, Andrea has lived in West Hartford for the past ten years.  After graduating from Simsbury High School, Andrea earned a bachelors in Family studies from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in marriage and family therapy. While her career path has been varied (working locally, regionally and nationally) the common theme has been educating about blindness and advocating for persons with disabilities.  This theme carries through in her capacity as a public speaker and sensitivity trainer.  When not working, or producing her WHCTV show, “As I See It, A Blind Woman’s View”, she enjoys reading, movies, concerts, spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, snowshoeing, swimming, and travel.
Andrea’s hope is that this event is informative to the public, fostering a greater insight of blindness and disability.  The goal is to help people realize what Helen Keller said so eloquently, “Blind people are just like seeing people- The loss of sight does not impair the qualities of mind and heart.”
